1) Please contact the Funeral Home first, and then the Funeral Home will contact the parish for arrangements about date and time.
2) If you are planning your own Funeral Liturgy, please make sure that the person who will make your arrangements receives all the information in advance.
3) Placing the Pall: The Pall is a symbol of the garment worn at Baptism. It is placed over the casket to remind us that the deceased, who died and rose with Christ in Baptism, will now be clothed in the glory of the risen Christ.
4) Words of Remembrance (optional): In accordance with the policy of the Diocese of Worcester this should be a brief written text, not to exceed five minutes. There must be only one speaker. It should consist of a reflection on the Christian live of the deceased.
5) Post Funeral Reception: St. George Parish Bereavement Ministry is happy to serve coffee, tea and dessert in the church hall. At the request of the family, a contact number will be provided by the Pastoral Staff. Additional items may be ordered and purchased, by the family, from local caterers who will deliver it to the church hall.
6) Funeral Music: Your offering for the Funeral Mass covers the cost for the Organist and Cantor. Arrangements are made by St. George Parish.
7) Service Leaflet: A program will be printed by the parish with your music and readings selections using the information given on the link called Funeral Mass Planning Worksheet. We ask that you return the completed worksheet to the parish office, either personally, through your funeral director or via fax (508) 854-0864, 24 hours prior to the funeral so that we may prepare appropriately for the funeral liturgy.
PLEASE NOTE that the COVID-19 situation has necessitated some alterations to these guidelines and related procedures.
We will happily share those changes when we speak with you about your arrangements.
